Shirley last year spoke at a conference at the wonderful Palazzo Versace. One of the most memorable conference
venues she has spoken at any where in the world!

on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the FINA Masters World Championships in Perth, April. Shirley
gets to hob-nob with all sorts of people but attests to not being old enough to compete in masters water
polo or swimming!

Shirley with the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Glynn Evans, and the Lady Mayoress Hayley Evans on the occasion
of the XII FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in April, 2008. Glynn was effusive and funny
and made us feel welcome in his palatial Town Hall. He even sent beer to my husband when none was on
the menu.
